In the coming months we will focus fully on improving delivery precision. That means we are adding resources to adjust capacity and better predict delays,” says CEO Leif Leira.

Increased predictability
If Møre Trafo promises a delivery time and there is a delay, you will be told in good time that there will be a delay and how long it will be. That increases predictability and gives you a better chance to adapt to the situation.
– For some products, our delivery times can be up to double the normal 4–8 weeks, depending on the product type.
Right now, transformers put the most pressure on the factory, but we still deliver far faster than the rest of Europe, which now has delivery times of half a year.
Investing in Capacity
– We scored high in a customer satisfaction survey carried out last year. Customer satisfaction means a lot to us, and that’s why we’re now taking action on our delivery time and delivery precision, says Leira.
Møre Trafo is also significantly increasing capacity in several departments, investing in machines and buildings and constantly hiring new employees. But the transformer market is now so hot that changes happen faster than you can build capacity, so it becomes a race with both upsides and downsides. At the same time, the global market for raw materials and components is at a highly “overheated” level, which adds another challenge to the delivery situation.
“Everything” gets electrified
“The reason, as mentioned, is that incoming orders are best described as enormous. The situation in the Nordics and Europe is almost wild, and the market seems insatiable,” Leira explains.
“Everything” is moving from fossil to electric – every industry, buses, cars, boats, ferries – and it puts enormous strain on and challenges manufacturers. The pressure is especially high on production and delivery of transformers. On delivery of substations, Møre Trafo is more or less up to date, but here there are challenges with some subcontractors affected by the global raw material shortage.

Working Flat Out
“We are now working hard to increase capacity without compromising on quality. Our uncompromising goal is that you as our customer always receive the very best solutions on the market for transformers and substations,” says Leira.
Scores High
In the customer satisfaction survey from summer 2021, Møre Trafo scores impressively high on all parameters. On a scale from 1 to 6, they consistently scored well above an average of 5. When asked how satisfied the customer is overall with Møre Trafo as a supplier, as many as 58 percent give Møre Trafo the highest score of 6, and 26 percent give a score of 5.

Top Quality
Product quality gets top scores from Møre Trafo’s customers. The average is an impressive 5.7, with 6 as the maximum. In the open comments, they highlight “product development and expertise” and “the products and the people who work there”. Service, and the fact that Møre Trafo is “flexible, customer-oriented and delivers good products with high quality”, also ranks very high on the list.
Market Leader
“Even if we score well, customer satisfaction is perishable. You have to work on it all the time – like now, with challenges on delivery time. Running these surveys is valuable because they reveal areas where there is room for improvement. That matters if you want to stay ahead, be a market leader, and drive industry development,” says Leif Leira, CEO of Scandinavia’s largest manufacturer of distribution transformers and fully assembled substations.
