When Standard Isn’t Enough
Special Transformers
Some projects demand more than standard solutions. Møre Trafo develops and manufactures special transformers tailored to specific needs in power grids, industry, transport and infrastructure.
With flexible design and long experience, we deliver solutions for special voltages, functions, and operating conditions – built for stable operation, high safety, and long service life.

Grid Systems

Earthing Transformer – Artificial Neutral Point
Neutral Point Transformer
You use a neutral grounding transformer in networks where the main transformer has no available neutral point, or the neutral is fully loaded. The neutral grounding transformer creates an artificial neutral point that compensates capacitive earth fault currents and gives the protection system the right operating conditions to disconnect fault currents before major damage occurs.

Distributed coil compensation to reduce earth fault currents.
Transformer with integrated reactor coil
This transformer has a built-in reactor coil that typically compensates 10 or 15 A inductive current. The solution is used in distribution grids to compensate earth fault currents locally in the network. The result is better control of earth faults, reduced risk of outages, and less damage after a fault.
Industry and Special Applications

Simple way to reduce a voltage
Transformer with automatic voltage regulation
The transformer keeps voltage stable in grids with varying loads, for example where you need voltage conversion between two voltage levels. It is often used when rebuilding 22–11 kV grids, and in areas where you do not want to establish galvanic isolation between two voltage levels.

Special Transformers for Industry and Test Facilities
Tailor-Made for Special Voltages and Functions
Some projects need transformers with special voltage levels, multiple taps, or special winding configurations. You use these transformers in test labs, industrial processes, pumps, motors, and internal distribution networks. We design and build them specifically for your application.

Transformers for rail infrastructure
Møre Trafo supplies transformers for railway power supply systems – auxiliary transformers, autotransformers and train heating transformers. Autotransformers prevent current from taking other paths than the rails and the return conductor, with autotransformers installed every four kilometers. Train heating transformers provide power for heating and onboard systems when trains are parked, by converting catenary voltage to standard train heating voltage.
The solutions are designed for the 16 ⅔ Hz rail frequency and demanding outdoor conditions, and can be delivered with integrated control cabinets for protection, monitoring, and safe operation.
