When Production Site Matters: Interview with the Møre Trafo CEO
Møre Trafo is first in the industry with “Made in Norway” – and sets the standard for safe delivery of critical infrastructure.
Read moreHR Manager Solgun Welle and Quality Manager Asgeir Tandstad have played a key role in leading the certification process.

Møre Trafo is already officially certified according to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management), and now also ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). This puts the core pillars of sustainability in place.
“The certification sets strict requirements that we as a company and our employees must live up to. That’s necessary when we are to fulfill our promise to deliver ‘more of what matters.’ The ISO certificate is not just a piece of paper, it is a continuous process of getting better,” says CEO Runar Tandstad about the certification process.
For Møre Trafo, certification can also open doors to new markets and customer segments. Certification guarantees potential customers that Møre Trafo delivers high-quality products and services, and signals that you take both the customer and the product seriously.
Increased focus on health, environment and safety motivates employees and forms the basis for an attractive workplace. An attractive workplace is important both to recruit and to retain skilled employees.
— The certification proves that we work actively to improve for our customers, the environment and our employees. This value matters more than the certificate itself, says HR Manager Solgun Welle and Quality Manager Asgeir Tandstad, who have led the certification process with strong support from Quality Engineer Araceli Olivares.
Møre Trafo, like other companies, is subject to strict control routines from the certification body. Through annual follow-up audits and recertification every third year, the body ensures that Møre Trafo complies with the requirements in the standard. Getting the first certification is demanding, and keeping it is even more demanding.
— Now we’re certified. What matters is that we live what we preach and keep a continuous focus on improvements, say HR Manager Solgun Welle and Quality Manager Asgeir Tandstad.
ISO 9001 certification is about quality that keeps customers coming back and keeps your company running well. You achieve this through customer focus, leadership and relationship management, people’s engagement, process thinking, improvement, and evidence-based decisions.
ISO 14001 certification is about reducing the impact on the environment. It helps Scandinavia’s largest manufacturer of transformers and substations succeed commercially without compromising the environment.
The ISO 45001 certification gives Møre Trafo a framework to identify, manage, and continuously improve health and safety risks in the workplace. The goal is to prevent work-related injuries and illness and to promote a safe and health-promoting working environment – both physical and psychosocial. ISO 45001 sets requirements for, among other things, risk assessment, employee participation, legal compliance, and systematic improvement work.
