– Good terms, flexible work arrangements, and opportunities for involvement create a good working environment and motivated employees.

For Møre Trafo, good HR policy is about more than fine words. The pension schemes are among the best in the business, those who want to can work flexible hours, there is no piecework, and employees receive performance pay where 10 percent of the profit before tax is distributed. In recent years, that has added roughly NOK 30,000 to each employee’s salary.

Running Smooth and Strong

2020 was another super year for Møre Trafo despite the challenges of the pandemic. Revenue hit a record-high 433 million. The profit also looks set to reach a record high.

“We have fantastically skilled and dedicated employees,” said CEO Leif Leira about the record year.

Director With Long Tenure

Like many others, Leira has a very long tenure in the company, which is Scandinavia’s largest manufacturer of distribution transformers and prefabricated substations. After 39 years in the group, Leira took the helm this summer from Tor Rieve Kristiansen.

The Medal of the Royal Norwegian Society for Development

“People want to work here as long as their health allows, and some preferably well into retirement age. Today we have six employees who have worked here for more than 40 years. 20 have worked here between 30 and 40 years, and 26 have received the Medal of the Royal Norwegian Society for Development as recognition for at least 30 years of employment with the same employer,” says Grøvik.

46 Years at Møre Trafo

The person who has worked the longest in the successful company today is Olav Dalsbotten (71). For 46 years, the senior sales representative has worked for Møre Trafo.

“He’s still going strong and has a network out of this world,” Grøvik says with a smile.

Senior Company of the Year

A few years ago, Møre Trafo started working systematically to keep its senior employees as long as possible. Among other things, it is about inspiring and encouraging employees in their 60s to stay in work until retirement age. This work resulted in Møre Trafo being named Senior Company of the Year in Møre og Romsdal in 2012.
