Transformers for a Historic Climate Project
Transformers and substations for Europe’s most ambitious battery factory
Talk to an advisor
Morrow Batteries in Arendal is among Europe’s largest battery factories and will supply batteries to a global market in transport and industry. The foundation stone was laid in September 2022 by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre – and the project is described as an important chapter in Norwegian industrial history.
Møre Trafo is selected as supplier of transformers and substations for the pilot plant, through the customer OMEXOM. The delivery is the first construction phase in a project with an ambition of 43 GWh annual production capacity and 2,500 jobs by 2028.
It’s motivating to contribute to a project that matters for Norwegian and European industry.
A battery gigafactory demands extreme stability and scalable power supply in every phase.
The project has support from Siva and investors with a strong environmental profile, including Bellona. The ambition of 43 GWh capacity makes Morrow one of the most important industrial initiatives in Norway’s energy transition.
The delivery meets the pilot plant’s technical requirements and is sized for stable operation in a production environment where downtime is not an option.
Morrow Batteries shows how Møre Trafo powers Norway’s industrial transition – where reliable power supply is a prerequisite for success.
When the factory is fully built, it will have an annual capacity of 43 GWh and create around 2,500 jobs in Arendal.
