Transformers

– Here the apprentices get an introduction to how transformers are built from A to Z, with windings, core steel, oil and tank. They see how we wind the coils and cut the cores. They learn about the different oil types we use and their properties, a bit about the different transformer ratings available, vector groups, transport, testing, placement, temperatures, ventilation, troubleshooting, repairs, scrapping and material recycling, explains Nils Johan Sylte.

The apprentices also get an overview of different types of substations and how they are built and set up.

Good Insight

“It’s great that Møre Trafo shows up like this. Møre Trafo gives the apprentices very good insight into transformers and substations,” says Oddmund Dalhus, training consultant at the training office for Electrical Trades in Møre og Romsdal.

Electro Is Popular

The electrical trade is a popular, future-focused vocational subject and career choice, especially with the green transition and the electrification of society now underway.

“Over the year we have roughly 350 apprenticeship positions and recruitment is good, but we would really like to see more girls sign up. The electrical trade should be a perfect fit for girls too,” says Dalhus.

The Training Office

At the Training Office for Electrical Trades in Brusdalen in Ålesund, apprentices get close follow-up during their apprenticeship, theory courses if they need them, and other relevant courses for apprentices and member companies.
