– The contract with NTE Nett and TrønderEnergi Nett is one of Møre Trafos biggest in recent times, and it is of course fantastic that we have won it, says a very satisfied Sales Manager Ivar Lifjeld at Møre Trafo.

Norway’s Second Largest

Møre Trafo’s contract is with Norway’s second largest grid company by number of customers, after NTE Nett and TrønderEnergi Nett merged their grid operations into a jointly owned Trøndelag-based company.

“All of” Trøndelag

The new company, formally established in June this year, will operate the power grid in large parts of Trøndelag. According to Adresseavisen, the group will start out with 250,000 customers, around 450 employees, and a total grid capital of about NOK 5.4 billion.

50–60 million

“We have signed a three-year contract with an option for another three years. We expect the contract to be worth somewhere between 50–60 million kroner per year for Møre Trafo. Trondheim is electrifying a lot these days; both buses and ferries will run on electricity, so there is a need for major investment in electrical infrastructure,” says Lifjeld.

Great Collaboration

Møre Trafo has for a long time had a framework agreement and an excellent collaboration with the two companies. In the tender, Møre Trafo was preferred over major players such as ABB and Simens. The agreement covers a total delivery of substations, transformers, switchgear and low-voltage switchboards.

New Record

A contract that could be worth at least 300 million kroner over six years means a lot for a company like Møre Trafo, which has an annual turnover of nearly 400 million. Last year Møre Trafo set a new turnover record with 380 million kroner.

Will Increase Capacity

The outlook for the cornerstone company in Sykkylven is very good. Møre Trafo is seeing very positive development thanks to the electrification of Norway, clear political signals that the power grid must become more robust, and strong developments in the export market for Møre Trafo.

“Yes, we still expect growing demand in the market and are looking at opportunities to increase our capacity significantly,” says Lifjeld.

Largest in Norway

Møre Trafo is Scandinavia’s largest manufacturer of distribution transformers and prefabricated substations. Møre Trafo is the largest transformer supplier in Norway with a market share of around 50 percent, and the second largest in substation sales. Møre Trafo currently has 135 employees and a production area of 13,500 square meters.
