Møre Trafo writes a new chapter in Norwegian industrial history as the first in the industry with a “Made in Norway” certification.

Secure Delivery of Critical Infrastructure

In an increasingly unpredictable market, trust, delivery reliability and access to critical infrastructure become decisive. In this interview, CEO Runar Tandstad at Møre Trafo explains why Norwegian production is about more than quality – it is about security for you as a customer, and guaranteed access when it really matters.

“By being first, we take a clear position. We want to lead the way and help strengthen Norwegian industry, expertise, and delivery capacity,” says CEO Runar Tandstad.

“Made in Norway” is an official labeling scheme from Innovation Norway that shows which products and solutions are actually produced in Norway.

In a market marked by greater uncertainty, trust, predictability, and secure access to critical infrastructure all become increasingly important. For you as a customer, “Made in Norway” means exactly this – confidence in where the products come from, and that they are available when you need them.

More Than Just a Mark

– For us this is more than a label. It’s a confirmation – and a commitment. We will deliver quality, take responsibility, and stay in full control of where and how things are produced. At the same time, it’s about safeguarding Norwegian production and local expertise, says Tandstad.

For 75 years, Møre Trafo has produced transformers and substations at the factory in Sykkylven. Now “Made in Norway” marks the start of a new chapter.

“Norwegian production is becoming increasingly important in the future energy system. That’s why we wanted a clear confirmation of what we already stand for,” he says.

Raising the Bar

To earn the “Made in Norway” label, you must document that the products are developed and manufactured in Norway – with quality, responsibility, and traceability all the way.

“The certification confirms what we already do, but it also raises our ambitions. It clarifies our responsibility for Norwegian standards and sustainability,” says Tandstad.

For you as a customer, this means easier choices: a supplier with production and expertise close to the market, shorter and more resilient supply chains, a lower climate footprint – and solutions built on quality and control.

Critical in a More Unpredictable World

“The need for stable access to critical infrastructure is increasing. In a more unpredictable world, preparedness and security of supply become more important. Then it’s a strength to have production in Norway,” says Tandstad.

He also points out that Norwegian production helps preserve and further develop industrial expertise here at home.

Møre Trafo sees that customers increasingly care about where products come from, sustainability, and secure delivery.

“Made in Norway gives us a clearer and more credible way to show this,” he says.

Wants to Strengthen the Position

“We will use ‘Made in Norway’ to highlight our role as a Norwegian full-range supplier – and as a player that stands for quality, sustainability, and preparedness. At the same time, we will keep developing products and services for international customers – from Norway, with high standards and solid traceability,” says Tandstad.
