Norway’s largest in Møre Trafo

“We were lucky enough to have as many as 20 project and production managers from Elvia AS departments in the north and south visit our factory in Sykkylven, and we were able to present our business in a very good way,” says Ivar Lifjeld, Sales and Marketing Manager at Møre Trafo.

Two million Norwegians

Elvia AS has become a giant and the country’s largest grid company. It was established on January 1, 2020 after a merger of Eidsiva Nett and Hafslund Nett. Elvia has 960,000 households as customers. That means the company is responsible for making sure that over two million people in Innlandet, Viken and Oslo have power in their sockets.

Bigger Than Denmark

Elvia covers and monitors, 24/7 all year, a grid area of 50,000 square kilometers, slightly larger than Denmark. Norway’s largest grid company has 860 employees, 66,000 km of lines and cables, and a total energy delivery of 30 TWh. Annual investments are two billion Norwegian kroner, and the company has revenues of just over seven billion kroner. Elvia’s main offices are in Hamar and Skøyen.

Green Transition

On its website, the company talks about its focus on sustainability, and that it is well prepared for the future and the electrification of everyday life in Norway. An electrification and a green transition that Møre Trafo is also heavily involved in, both on land and at sea.

Great insight – big deal

The purpose of the visit was to gain good insight into the production of both transformers and substations, as well as updates in the project and ordering portal in use. For Møre Trafo, it is both important and a real honor to be able to showcase the company in this way.

Strong interest

The tours were well received, and participants were very interested in getting this close to transformer production and seeing how the work is done on the different types. They also got an introduction to how we use our test station for final inspection of transformers and which methods we use for troubleshooting.

Electrifying City Walk

– The visit on December 6–7 started with a city walk in Ålesund for all the sporty participants who braved biting cold and snow to experience the attractive Art Nouveau city, says Ole Linstad, District Manager at Møre Trafo.
