“Eighty-five registered is a new record. This is the 13th time we run this event, and registrations increase every year. It’s an annual occasion we really look forward to, and the interest in the event shows that it truly hits the mark in the industry,” says Ivar Lifjeld, Sales and Marketing Manager at Møre Trafo.

Super-Popular Møre Trafo Gathering: Record Crowd to Kiel

The Kiel trips are an arena and meeting place for customers and suppliers, for new knowledge, professional input and exchange of experience, useful information and networking. This year there was also fun entertainment with Kahoot, with questions linked to the presentations and great prizes from the suppliers.

After the final talk on Thursday, all attention turned to the man who for so many years has been an institution in Møre Trafo. Senior Sales Representative Olav Dalsbotten started at Møre Trafo in 1975, and this summer he steps down after a full 47 years at the cornerstone company in Sykkylven, which today is Scandinavia’s largest producer of distribution transformers and fully assembled substations.

On the Kiel trip he was introduced by Ålesund entrepreneur André Eidskrem after the latter’s presentation on the exciting plans for a large and high-ambition data center in Mo Industripark in Mo i Rana.

Olav took the opportunity to say his goodbyes after an extraordinary journey at Møre Trafo. He joined Møre Trafo as a newly graduated power engineer from NTH in January 1975 and stayed on. In recent

years he has also witnessed the remarkable growth in the electrification of traffic at sea and on land, where Møre Trafo’s products are absolutely critical for this development.

In Energiteknikk, the online newspaper for the energy industry, he is praised and described as Mr. Møre Trafo himself. The article says that among grid people, Olav Dalsbotten long ago became a concept, and for Møre Trafo he has been a key player with an enormous contact network in the energy industry. In Sales, Møre Trafo has been represented by a highly competent, cheerful man with a friendly and winning manner. After Olav said his goodbyes, everyone rose spontaneously, applauded, and honored Mr. Møre Trafo.
