Trafo took the prize ahead of fellow finalists Firmenich Bjørge Biomarin and Stiftelsen
Atlanterhavsparken.

Big Cuts
Møre Trafo has cut its power consumption by well over ten percent, even though it is hard to measure it completely
accurately, according to Technical Manager Knut Stadheim. Together with Factory Manager Steinulf Gjøvik, he has led the way
in cutting the company’s power costs. The company is the market leader in Norway for
distribution transformers.
We have involved the employees and they have come up with ideas, and we have changed routines in the factory
explains Stadheim.
Ideas and suggestions
Møre Trafo has held meetings with employees where they have brainstormed ideas and suggestions for how you can save power. That way, routines have changed – like switching off lights in unused rooms,
and doing the same with machines. That gives savings that cost nothing to achieve.
The Energy Thieves
– The production managers, Steinulf and I have also had regular meetings about energy saving, and we have mapped
these “energy thieves” so we can do something about them, says Stadheim.
for å spare mest mulig strøm.
Technical Manager Knut Stadheim and Factory Manager Stein Grøvik have led the work to save energy at Møre Trafo.
Environmental Commitment
– The investments are worth it, but it’s not just about money. We also have an
environmental commitment to not use more energy than necessary, says Technical Manager Knut Stadheim.
He has taken part in all the gatherings at Tafjord EnergiArena and believes it has been important to be
challenged and “pushed” in the right direction to take action.
Proud “We are proud. The prize is a big recognition of the work we have done,” says Knut Stadheim. For ten years, Tafjord EnergiArena has pushed companies to save power – it’s about both how much you use and when during the day the power is used. Over 100 industrial companies in Sunnmøre are said to have saved 150 million kroner in this period. This is the first time a Tafjord EnergiArena Company of the Year has been named.
