“An incredibly useful day. Very exciting, relevant and important to be able to step out of theory and see everything in practice. We got a walkthrough from A to Z of how transformers are built and made. There’s a huge difference between reading about this and actually seeing it yourself,” says a very satisfied student, Øystein Longva Tennfjord (26) from Tennfjord, on the ferry back across the fjord after the study day in Sykkylven. He thinks it’s great that Møre Trafo gives the students plenty of time to ask questions along the way, and that skilled specialists take the time to give thorough, clear answers and explanations. And if you ask Øystein, the pizza service is definitely a big plus too.

Teacher and employee

Teacher Asbjørn Nesse has previously worked at Møre Trafo and for many years has brought graduating students to his former employer to give them practical, hands-on input.

“It’s close to 20 years since I left the company, but it almost feels like coming ‘home’ every time, even though a lot has changed. Among other things, production is becoming more and more automated, but the company is still defined by the very skilled professionals who work there,” says Nesse. He is also impressed by the growth and revenue development the cornerstone company in Sykkylven has seen in recent years.

Relevant and useful

Møre Trafo’s Nils Johan Sylte is responsible for the program, and he finds it inspiring to have students visit so he can showcase the production, the factory, and the company.

“They’re genuinely interested and ask many good questions. Hopefully we manage to give something back so they find the study visit here relevant and useful. The feedback we get certainly suggests that,” says Nils Johan Sylte.
