Concrete choices. Proven results. From raw material to recycling.

Taking environmental responsibility is not about intentions, it is about choices you can measure and document. At Møre Trafo, sustainable material choices, energy efficiency and circular solutions are integrated into the entire production process, from purchasing steel to the finished substation or transformer is delivered.
We are the first manufacturer in Norway to use low-carbon-footprint core steel in our transformers. We choose Thyssenkrupp’s Bluemint® series – a low-carbon steel produced under the mass balance principle, which makes it possible to document CO₂ reductions today, without waiting for the entire industry to complete the transition.

The quality is identical to conventional steel. The CO₂ reduction is certified by TÜV SÜD and can be reported directly in your Scope 3 climate accounts, confirmed by DNV.
In our substation products we use recycled steel wherever possible. This can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 70% compared to newly produced steel – without compromising strength, service life, or surface treatment.

An oil-immersed transformer with a 30-year service life can, after use, return positive material value to the value chain.
Our transformers are designed for disassembly and recycling. With a recycling rate of up to 98%, Møre Trafo actively contributes to the circular economy.
We are connected to RENAS – Norway’s leading electrical and electronic waste return company – which guarantees environmentally safe return and recycling of all electronic components and raw materials.
As standard we use naphthenic mineral oils (Nynäs Nytro 10XN or Shell Diala S4 ZX-I) with excellent cooling and insulation properties. For projects that require extra environmental performance, we offer natural ester oil as an alternative:
99 % biologisk nedbrytbar og gjenvinnbar
Ikke-giftig og klassifisert som ikke-farlig avfall
Høyere brannpunkt enn mineralolje – økt brannsikkerhet
Dokumentert lang levetid og gode elektriske egenskaper

We always handle used transformer oils safely – either through an approved waste facility or by reusing them for heating after laboratory analysis.

We use HVO biofuel (hydrogenated vegetable oil) in parts of our logistics. HVO cuts transport emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel, without requiring changes to vehicles or infrastructure.

All production happens under one roof in Sykkylven. From raw material to finished product, we control the entire process ourselves. That means shorter transport distances, better quality control, and a lower overall climate footprint – and it gives you confidence that the solutions are produced to Norwegian standards.

We repair and rebuild used transformers of all sizes. Extending the lifetime of existing equipment is the most resource-efficient choice – and often the most cost-effective for you. We handle all replaced parts and used oil in an environmentally sound way.
