Opening Service Center in Eastern Norway – Møre Trafo Targets a Brand-New Market

The guys at Kløfta: (from left) Service Manager Tore Hjelkerud, service technician Espen Gran and Team Leader Jarle Wilhelm Hellesen.

“The reason for this initiative is that we won a contract with our largest customer, Elvia AS, covering handling of Elvia’s contingency and project transformers,” says Head of Sales and Marketing at Møre Trafo, Ivar Lifjeld.

Large Areas

Three employees started up on April 1, receiving all of Elvia’s 800 emergency transformers, plus a range of other equipment. The service and emergency unit at Kløfta, right by the E6 south of Oslo Airport, has 6,000 m² of outdoor storage, 900 m² of cold storage, 1,050 m² of heated storage and workshop, and around 475 m² of offices.

Exciting initiative

“This is an exciting new focus for us, and we plan to offer services to other customers as well, such as grid companies and contractors, but also industry and other businesses that operate their own transformers,” says Lifjeld.

For now, three employees

It’s been hectic days with full production on top of adapting the premises. We’ve been installing machines and equipment and running training at Møre Trafos factory in Sykkylven.

The three employees are Service Manager Tore Hjelkerud, Team Leader Jarle Wilhelm Hellesen, and Service Technician Espen Gran.

Broad Expertise

“All of us have broad experience and expertise from the industry, and we hold certificates that allow us to carry out service jobs out at the customer’s site as well. Everyone lives close to the center and can respond quickly when needed,” says Service Manager Tore Hjelkerud.

Over time we will need more people, and Møre Trafo Service will probably hire more employees during the fall.

The Work Tasks

Your tasks are logistics, administration and warehousing for the grid company – Elvia’s – 1–24 kV transformers, voltage step-up units, voltage boosters and other large components for the distribution grid.
