Substation

The Hub in Your Power Supply

A substation is not just a substation. It is part of society’s critical infrastructure, and the very hub of the power supply.

MT MAXI Substation

Safe power for everyone

High-voltage becomes low-voltage, and the power is safe for you and me

If the substation goes down, society stops. Møre Trafo is not just a supplier, but your partner for today’s and tomorrow’s power supply. With over 75 years of experience, we know what matters when power has to reach what really counts.

Complete delivery

FLEX and MAXI substations come fully equipped with one or more transformers, switchgear, low-voltage switchboards, and integrated technical enclosures.

Complete Solutions

With all production under one roof, we develop complete solutions: integrated steel foundations, maintenance-free glass fiber–reinforced roofs, and powder coating that withstands our conditions.

Future-Focused Development

We develop tomorrow’s solutions today. That’s why we choose Magnelis-treated steel with documented durability in environmental class C4 and C5, in-house production of low-voltage switchgear, and flexibility in high-voltage solutions.

From Standard to Custom-Built

Our solutions are versatile, whether you need indoor or outdoor operated substations. From the simplest to the most complex, we make sure your needs and specifications are met.

Substation in Production

More Energy. Less Loss.

Purchase price is one thing. Energy cost over 30 years is something else entirely.
Lower energy loss = lower power bill – every single year for 30–40 years.

Built for Nordic conditions.

Electrical infrastructure in the Nordics often operates in some of the toughest environments.

Substation for Nordic climates

Charging facilities and shore power systems are often installed in ports, along the coast, and in open areas where the equipment faces harsh conditions. Low temperatures, strong winds, salt and sea spray, as well as humidity and large temperature fluctuations, place high demands on both design and material selection.

Transformers and substations from Møre Trafo are built to run reliably in these conditions. Tough materials, well-designed ventilation, and construction adapted to the Nordic climate secure dependable operation – even in demanding environments.

Modern Production

Built for precision. Produced for quality.

Substations from Møre Trafo are produced in one of Norway’s most modern factories for substations. Here, development, production, and quality assurance come together in one continuous production line – from design to components.

Substation Charging Infrastructure

Substations from Møre Trafo are produced in one of Norway’s most modern substation factories. Here, development, production and quality assurance run in one continuous production line – from design to components.

The continuous production ensures consistent quality, efficient flow, and full traceability at every stage. At the same time, modern production equipment gives you the flexibility to adapt solutions to different specifications and project requirements – built for stable operation for decades.

Up to 98% material recovery

Material Recycling of Transformers

Our solutions are designed for disassembly and recycling. With a recycling rate of up to 98%, Møre Trafo actively contributes to the circular economy. We are affiliated with RENAS – Norway’s leading WEEE return company – which guarantees environmentally safe return and recycling of all electronic components and raw materials.

One standard. Endless options.

Tailor-made for utilities, industry and infrastructure – delivered with precision.

From Small to Large Substation

One standard doesn’t mean one solution. You can adapt the platform with different voltage levels, power ranges, winding configurations, earthing systems and cooling solutions – from local distribution to demanding industrial and infrastructure installations. You configure each solution to actual needs: load profile, environmental conditions, loss requirements, redundancy and future capacity growth.

The result is a solution standardized in quality – but with performance tailored to your needs.

The future power grid demands responsible choices

Energy efficiency and sustainability are not add-ons

– they are basic requirements.

Illustration of the transformer lifecycle

Our transformers comply with the EU’s ecodesign requirements and reduce energy losses throughout their entire lifetime. Over the life cycle, high efficiency delivers significant energy savings.

Icon for circular economy

Up to 98% of the materials are recyclable. You can dismantle the components efficiently with low energy use.

Icon for an environmentally friendly, fire-safe solution

If needed, the transformers can be delivered with natural ester oil (FR3) – with a very high flash point and high biological degradability.

Icon for low noise level

The oil acts as a natural sound damper and reduces noise levels in densely populated areas.

Choosing the right technology is not just about performance – it is about responsibility.
